Mrs A.L. Whaling to Southern Express Company         
                  Mortgage
This Indenture made the 21st day of September in the year of
our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty three between
Mrs A.L. Whaling and her husband A.L. Whaling of Waldo Alachua
County State of Florida parties of the first part and the
Southern Express Company of the second part Whereas
the said Mrs A.L. Whaling and A.L. Whaling are Justly indebted
to the Southern Express Company of the second part in
the sum of Five Hundred and Twenty Nine Dollars lawful Money
of the United States of America for which amount
the aforesaid parties of the first part have given to the
Southern Express Company their five promisory Notes
each Note for the amount of one hundred and five 80/100 Dollars
bearing even date with these presents with interest from
date at ten per Cent per annum to be paid as follows
the first Note due four Months from date the second note
due Eight Months from date the third note due twelve
months from date the fourth Note due sixteen Months
from date and the fifth Note due twenty Months from date
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said parties of the
first part for the better securing of the payment of
the said sum of Money Mentioned in said promisory
notes as aforesaid and also for and in Consideration
of the sum of one Dollar to them in hand paid
by the said parties of the second part at or
before the ensealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted
bargained, sold, aleined remised, released Conveyed
and Confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
sell alein remise release Convey and Confirm unto
the said parties of the Second part and to their heirs
and assigns and successors the following lots or
