        C.T. Dawkins To John W. Taylor

Alachua County   } Whereas I Caroline T. Dawkins
(widow) of the aforesaid State and County
am indebted unto John M. Taylor by my prom
isory note in the sum of Four Thousand dollars
bearing date the 15th day of October AD 1883 and
bearing interest from date at Eight per cent per
annum and payable Five years after date and
whereas the said sum of money is due and ow=
ing by me for cash loaned to me by the said
John M. Taylor and being desirous of well
fully and entirely securing the payment thereof
Therefore know all men by these presents that I
the said Caroline T. Dawkins for and in consider
ation of the premises and in consideration of
the said sum of money so owing by me as
aforesaid have granted granted bargained sold
aliened conveyed and mortgaged and by these
presents do grant bargain sell alien convey
and Mortgage unto him the said John M.
Taylor all of that certain lot or parcel of
land situated lying and being in the Town
of Gainesville in Alachua County in the State
of Florida particularly described as commencing
at a point on the Western boundary of the orig
inal plan and survey of the Town of Gaines
ville at a point or stake which stands three
hundred and Twenty (320 feet) north from the
South East corner of the lot as originally 
purchased by J.B. Dawkins from B. Bailey
by Deed of record in Alachua County Florida thence
North One hundred and thirty nine (139) feet to the South 
East corner of the lot heretofore sold and convey
ed by J.B. Dawkins to Henry F. Dutton thence West
Three hundred and eighty (380) feet thence south
One hundred and thirty-nine (139) feet to the
north west corner of lot conveyed to J.F. McKins
try thence East three hundred and Eighty (380)
feet to the place of beginning. Together with all
and singular the tenements hereditaments and appur-
tenances to the same belonging or in any wise ap
pertaining To have and to hold the same unto
him the said John M. Taylor and to his 
heirs executors administrators and assigns forever
Provided allways nevertheless and this instrum
ent is executed and delivered upon this express

note & mortgage as collateral security for a note of even date given him by and for the sum of Three
