T.M. Cauthen & J.T. Ferguson To Anna & Sarah E. Chadwick
                         Mortgage
This Indenture made this third day of October in
the year of out Lord one thousand eight hundred and
Eighty three between Thomas M. Cauthen Hannah P. Cauthen
James T. Ferguson Alice H. Ferguson of the first part
and Anna W. Chadwick and Sarah Chadwick of the second
part: whereas the said Thomas M. Cauthen and Jas T. Fergu-
son are justly indebted to Anna W. Chadwick and Sarah E.
Chadwick of the second part in the sum of one
Thousand Dollars lawful money of the United States of
America. For which said amount the said parties of the
first part have given their two promissory notes, one of
said notes made payable to Anna W. Chadwick for the am-
ount of Five hundred Dollars and the other of said notes
payable to Sarah E. Chadwick for the amount of Five
hundred dollars both of said notes bearing even date
with these presents will be due and are to be paid three
years from this date, with interest to be paid annually
at the rate of Eight per Cent per annum.
Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said parties of
the first part for the better securing the payment of the
said Sum of money mentioned in the said promissory
notes as aforementioned and also for and in Consid-
eration of the sum of money mentioned in the said promissory
by the said parties of the second part at or before the
ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
sold aliened remised released Conveyed and Confirmed
and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien
