Alachua County } Whereas we James D. Matheson
and wife Augusta S. Matheson James T. McMillan and
wife Mary A. McMillan and Newton D. Phillips and
wife Kate J. Phillips of the State and County above
mentioned are justly indebted to Francis J. Pelzer and
Francis S. Rodgers of the City of Charleston County of
Charleston and State of South Carolina in the sum
of Two Thousand Dollars which said sum of money
is covenanted to be paid by our certain promissory notes
bearing even date herewith to wit: one Note for five
hundred dollars to be paid January first AD
Eighteen hundred and Eighty four: one note for
Five hundred dollars to be paid January first AD
Eighteen hundred and Eighty five; one for
five hundred dollars to be paid January first
AD Eighteen hundred and eighty six and one
note for five hundred dollars to be paid Jan-
uary first Eighteen hundred and Eighty Seven
said notes to bear legal interest or Eight per Cent
per annum.
And whereas we are desirous of fully and better
securing the payment of said notes and the sum
of money mentioned therein. Therefore know all men
by these presents that we James D. Matheson and
wife Augusta S. Matheson, James T. McMillan and wife
Mary A. McMillan and Newton D. Phillps and wife
Kate J. Phillips of the State and County aforesaid
for and in consideration of the premises and of one
Dollar to us in hand paid have granted bargained
sold and Conveyed and by these presents do grant
bargain Sell and Convey unto the said Francis J. Petzer
and Francis S. Rodgers of the City of Charleston County
of Charleston State of South Carolina their
heirs and assigns all the following described piece
parcel or tract of land situated lying and being
in the County of Alachua State of Florida to wit:
All of Section Twelve (12) in Township Ten (10) South
Range Twenty (20) East together with all and Sin-
gular the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances
to the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining
To Have and to Hold the same unto the said Francis
J. Petzer and Francis S. Rodgers their heirs and assigns
forever. Provided however and these presents
are upon this express Condition that if the said
James D. Matheson and Augusta S. Matheson
