his wife, James T. McMillan and Mary A.
McMillan his wife and Newton D. Phillis and
Kate J. Phillips his wife their heirs or assigns
shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the
sum of money Covenanted to be paid by said
note together with the interest to accrue thereon
according to the legal tenor and effect thereof
then this obligation Shall become null and void
otherwise to remain in full force and virtue

hands and affixed our seals on this 25th day

in and for said State and County do hereby Certify that
on this 25th day of September AD 1883 before me
personally appeared James F. Matheson and Augusta
S. Matheson his wife James T. McMillan and Mary
A. McMillan his wife and Newton D. Phillips and Kate
J. Phillips his wife to me well known as the persons
described in and who executed the foregoing Mortgage
Deed and Severally acknowledged the execution thereof
free act and deed for the uses and purposes therein
mentioned and the said Augusta S. Matheson wife of
the said J.D. Matheson Mary A. McMillan wife of the
said J.T. McMillan and Kate J. Phillips wife of the
said N.D. Phillips on an examination taken and made
separately and apart from their said husbands did
each acknowledge before me that they made themselves
parties to the said Conveyance for the purpose of releasing
relinquishing and renouncing all of their right of dower
in and to the lands tenements and hereditaments
therein described and thereby granted and released 
and that such relinquishment and renunciation of
Dower is made by them freely and voluntarily and
without  Constraint apprehension or fear of or from their
said husbands. Witness my hand and seal the date
