Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents that
Whereas Sam James of the above State and County
is indebted to S.R. Barnes of the same State and
County in the sum of Fifty nine & 87/100 dollars which
said sum is covenanted to be paid by his Certain prom-
issory note bearing date Nov 6 1883 and for the said
Sum of Fifty Nine & 87/100 dollars bearing interest
at the rate 12%. Now therefore to better secure the
payment of said note and interest as expressed
therein I do by these presents grant bargain sell
and Convey unto the said S.R. Barnes their heirs
and assigns all my right title interest and claim
of in and to all Crops of whatsoever species kind
or description now growing or which may hereafter be
planted grown or gathered by me or for me or
for my benefit on or off of any and all lands
in Alachua County Florida also the following des-
cribed property to wit: The forty acre tract of land
bought of P.B. Dudley situated in sec 28 T9 -
R18E and one bay horse Called "John-"
To have and to hold all and singular the Crops
lands and personal property above bargained
and sold unto the said S.R. Barnes her heirs
executors administrators and assigns forever. Provided
nevertheless that if the said Sam James should well
and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said
S.R. Barnes the full amount of said note together with
the interest according to its tenor and effect then this
instrument to be void else to remain in full force
and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that should
it become necessary to enforce this instrument by
legal proceedings the said Sam James will pay therefor
all attorneys fees and expenses. In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th day

James Sign seal and deliver the foregoing instrument
of writing for the uses and purposes as therein Contained
