$5000.00  Ashville NC Sept 7th 1883
On the first day of January 1889, I promise to pay
to the order of C.B. Duffield Five Thousand Dollars
with interest^from date at eight per cent per annum
payable Sum annually on the first day of January
and July of each year value received witness my
hand and seal   J. Adger Clark  (seal)
And whereas the party of the first part is desirous
of Security the payment of the said note and the
interest thereon as it shall become payable-
Now in Consideration of the premises and of one
dollar to him paid by each of the parties of the
second and third parts, the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged the said party of the first part hereby
bargains Sells and Conveys to the said party of the
second part all that piece or parcel of land lying
and being in the County of Alachua State of Florida
and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a
post in the North line of the Orange Grove tract,
759 feet E from the NW Corner of said tract and
runs South 990 feet to a post marked AI; thence
East 361 feet to a stake thence South 906 feet; thence
West about 153 feet to a fence; thence with said
fence North Westerly to a Corner Marked O, being
455 feet South of the stake marked AI; thence West
to the Waters of Orange Lake; thence with the shore
of Orange Lake to a stake marked X on shore of the
Lake; thence East to the South gate post leading
into the Grove; thence North with the present fence
about 400 feet to the fence on the North side of
the Grove thence E 759 feet to the beginning it being
the Orange Grove property Conveyed to the said J. Adger
Clark by Geo R. Fairbanks and wife by and bearing
date the 2nd day of January AD 1882 and recorded
in the public records of Alachua County, Florida in
Book "N" pages 12 et seqt Also the lands in Bunscombe
County North Carolina on which said party of the first
part resides, being the lands conveyed to the said party
of the first part by J.G. Martin & wife by two deeds
one deed dated April 23rd 1883 registered in Book
44 pages 261- Register of Deeds office in Bunscombe
County, the other dated 14th May 1883 registered
in Book 44 page 312 of said office the two deeds
Conveying adjacent tracts described as follows:
The first tract beginning at a white oak in the Gap
of a ridge Clarks Corner & run with his line North
83º East 51 poles & 16 links to a stake, thence N 5º W
23 poles & 18 links to a stake; thence N 33º East 8 poles
