Flemmon Meekins To S.R. Barnes
           "Mortgage"
State of Florida }
Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents that
whereas Flem Meekins of the above State and County
is indebted to S.R. Barnes of the same State and County
in the Sum of Fifty dollars which Said Sum is Cov-
enanted to be paid by a Certain promissory note bearing
date Nov 12 1883 and for the said sum of Fifty dollars 
bearing interest at the rate of 12% Now therefore to
better secure the payment of said note and the interest
as expressed therein I do by these presents grant bargain
sell and Convey unto the said S.R. Barnes heirs and
assigns all my right title interest and claim of in and to
all the Crops of whatsoever species kind or description now
growing or which may hereafter be planted grown or
gathered by me or for me or for my benefit on or off of
any and all lands in Alachua County Florida - Also the
following described property to wit: 
One Bay horse called "Charley" and two head of Cows and
2 calves one cow black the the other black & white and the
crop of 1884 in particular - To have and to hold all and
singular the crops lands and personal property above
bargained and sold unto the said S.R. Barnes
heirs executors administrators and assigns forever
Provided Nevertheless that if the said Flem Meekins
should well and truly pay or cause to be paid
unto the said S.R. Barnes the full amount of said note
then this instrument to be void else to remain in
full force and virtue And it is hereby further
agreed that should it become necessary to enforce
this instrument by legal proceedings the said Flem-
Meekins will pay therefor all attorneys fees charges and
expenses. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this 12th day of November
