   Phillip Miller to Charles Perkins
               "Mortgage"
This Indenture made this 30th day of out Lord one thousand
Eight hundred and Eighty three Between Phillip Miller Bachelor of Alachua
County Florida party of the first part and Charles Perkins of same place
party of the second part Whereas the said Phillip Miller is Justly
indebted to Charles Perkins of the second part in the sum of One Thousand
three hundred Dollars lawful money of the United States of America as
evidenced by two (2) certain promissory notes of even date herewith one
note for the sum of four hundred dollars ($40000) due January first
(1st) 1884, and the other note for the sum of nine hundred dollars
($90000) due January first (1st) 1885 each bearing interest at the rate
of eight (8) per cent per annum until paid and payable to the
order of Charles Perkins. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that
the said party of the first part for the better securing the payent
of the sum of money mentioned in said notes and also for and in
Consideration of the sum of Five Dollars to him in hand paid by the
said party of the second part at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt for which is hereby acknowledged hath
granted bargained sold aliened remised released conveyed and
confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien
remise release convey and confirm unto the said party of the
second part and his heirs and assigns forever all that
certain lot piece tract or parcel of land situated lying and being
in the County of Alachua in the State of Florida particularly
known and described as follows, to wit, the north quarter (1/4) of
lot seven (7) commencing at the north west corner^of said Lot^
running thence south one hundred (100) feet thence East two
hundred and forty (240) feet thence north one hundred (100)
feet, thence West two hundred and forty (240) feet to place of
beginning of Brushes addition to Gainesville Florida as per
Williams' Map Together with all and singular the tenements
hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any
wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder
and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and also all
the estate right title interest in and to the said property
possession claim and demand whatsoever as well in law
as in equity of the said party of the first part of in and
to the same and every part and parcel thereof with the
appurtenances; To have and to hold the above granted and
described premises unto the said party of the second part his
heirs and assigns to his and own proper use benefit and behoof
forever. Provided always and these presents are on this express
condition that if the said Phillip Miller his heirs executors
or administrators shall well and truly pay unto the said
party of the second part his heirs executors or administrators
or assigns the said sum of money mentioned and set forth in
said notes with interest according to the true intent and
