        C.A. Simmons and Wife To G.B. Griffin
                    "Mortgage"
This Indenture made this first day of November in the year of
our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and eighty three between
C.A. Simmons and Martha M. his wife of Alachua County Florida of
the first part and G.B. Griffin of Duval Co Fla of the second
part: Whereas the said parties of the first part is Justly indebted
to said second party (G.B. Griffin) of the second part in the Sum
of one thousand dollars (1000) Dollars lawful money of the United
States of America as evidenced by their certain promissory note
of even date herewith as follows
$1000=                      Jacksonville Nov 1st 1883
   Six months after date we promise to pay to the order of
G.B. Griffin one thousand dollars at the Bank of Jacksonville
in Jacksonville with interest at the rate of one and one half
pr cent pr month For value received.
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said parties of the
first part for the better securing the payment of the said sum
of money mentioned in their promissory note and also for and in
consideration of the sum of One thousand dollars to them in
hand paid by the said party of the second part at or
before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold
aliened remised released conveyed and confirmed and by these
presents do grant bargain sell alien remise release convey and
confirm unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and
assigns forever All that certain tract of land described as
follows To Wit: an individual one half interest in the South
half of the North east quarter of Section thirty one (31)
Township Ten (10) S Range twenty two 22 East in
Alachua County Together with the steam engine Boiler
mill, and machinery now on said land, together with all
and singular the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances
thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the
reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents
issues and profits thereof and also all the estate right
title interest Dower & Right of Dower property possession
claim and demand whatsoever as well in law as in equity
of the said parties of the first part of in and to the same
and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances
To Have and to Hold the above granted and described
premises unto the said party of the second part his heirs
and assigns for his own proper use benefit and behoof forever
