One day after date I promise to pay T.H. Bevill or bearer One hundred
and Fifteen dollars value received with interest at twelve per cent per
annum

Alachua County } Whereas I have this day purchased of T.H. Bevill
a certain Black Horse called Joe about four years old and am
still due him the sum of one hundred and fifteen dollars therefor
with interest at twelve per cent per annum agreeably to the tenor
and effect of a certain promissory note bearing even date with these
presents. Now know all men by these presents that I hereby mortgage
to the said Bevill for the secure payment of said sum and Int
the said Horse and pledge myself not to part with sell or swap
said horse without the written consent of said Bevill and if I should
part with the possession of said Horse then this obligation is due
and payable and he shall have full power to Seize said Horse
and foreclose this instrument of mortgage and to further secure him in the
payment of said sum and interest I hereby mortgage all my cows and
their increase also all crops to be raised by me during the years
AD 1884 and 1885 for the Satisfaction of said demand and should
the Horse be ill treated and likely to die from such treatment
then the said Bevill has full power to Seize said Horse and
I agree to pay five dollars for the use of said Horse for month for the
time I have had him and should it be necessary to foreclose this
instrument by legal process I agree to pay therefor all reasonable
attornies fees and charges and upon payment by one of the above
claim then this obligation to be null and void else to remain
in full force and virtue In testamony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this 20th day of October AD 1883
