    Be it remembered That on the 15th day of February
in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred
and Eighty two, before me the subscriber a Notary
Public personally came A.V. Stewart & C.A. Miller
the grantors in the foregoing Mortgage Deed and ack-
-nowledged the signing and sealing thereof to be their
Voluntary act and Deed for the uses and purposes
therein Mentioned, In testimony whereof I have here

       Peter Hodge and Wife to Joel Hodge
                        "Mortgage"
State of Florida } This Indenture made the 2nd day of January AD
Alachua County   } 1882 between Peter Hodge and his wife Martha
Hodge of the County of Alachua and State of Florida of the first
part and Joel Hodge of the same County and State of the
second part Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part for and
in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Dollars to them in hand paid
by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged hath given granted aliened bargained sold transfered
and do be these presents give grant aliene bargain sell transfer and
convey unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and
assigns forever the NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Sec 18 Township 10 Range
17 containing one Hundred and Sixty acres more or less. To Have
To Have and to Hold the above described land with the appurtenances
thereunto belonging unto the said party of the second part and to
his heirs and assigns as their absolute property in fee simple
forever. It is understood however that this is to be considered in
the nature of a mortgage for the purpose of securing to Joel
Hodge the payment of Fifteen Dollars with ten per cent interest
by the first day of November AD 1882 now if the said partys of the
first part shall well and truly pay said amount and interest
at the time specified then this shall be null and void else to
remain in full force and virtue. In Witness whereof the partys
of the first part have hereunto affixed their hands and seals this
