M.L. Wood To O.S. Wood
       "Mortgage"
This Indenture made the first day of April in
the year of out Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and Eighty Two between Merritt L. Wood and Adelia
M. his wife of Micanopy Florida of the first part
and Orrin S. Wood of Montreal Quebec of the second
part, Witnesseth That the said parties of the first
part in Consideration of the Sum of Twenty Five
Hundred dollars to them duly paid have sold
and By these presents do grant and Convey to the
said party of the second part his heirs and assigns
All that tract or parcel of land Situate in the County
of Alachua and State of Florida and bounded and
described as follows viz: Being all that portion of Lot
No 62, of the lands popularly known as the "Leitner
Lands" lying on the South Westerly side of the public
road leading from Arredondo to Micanopy - the Survey
and map of said lands having been made by W.C.
Miller and recorded August 29, 1877, Page 645 of
Deed Book "J" of the records in the office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court of the County of Alachua
and State of Florida.
This Grant is intended as a Security for the payment
of the Sum of Twenty Five Hundred Dollars
five years from the date hereof with interest
at six per Cent per annum payable annually
to the Said party of the second part; And
this Conveyance shall be void if such payment be
made as herein specified. And in Case of default
shall be made in the payment of the principal
sum hereby intended to be secured, or in the pay
ment of the interest thereof or any part of such
principal interest as above provided it shall be
lawful for the party of the second part his exec-
utors administrators or assigns at any time thereafter
to sell the premises hereby granted or any part
thereof in the manner prescribed by law and out
of all the moneys arising from Such sale to retain
the amount due for principal and interest to-
gether with the Costs and Charges of making such
sale and the overplus if any there be shall be
