to me well known as the person described in and
who executed the foregoing Mortgage Deed and ac-
knowledges the execution thereof to be his free act and
deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned

      Reuben Baskins To G.K. Brown
                   "Mortgage"
        State of Florida   Alachua County
Know all men by these presents that whereas I Reuben Baskins
of above State and County am indebted to G.K. Broome of the
same State and County in the sum of one Hundred Twenty Five
dollars lawful money of the United States which said sum is
expressed in one certain promissory note bearing date 12th Jany 1884
and for the said sum of one Hundred Twenty Five dollars and
falling due on October 12th AD 1884 with interest at 3% per month
after maturity. Now therefore to better secure said G.K. Broome in
full payment of said Note and interest as expressed I do by
these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said G.K.
Broome his heirs and assigns all my right title interest and
claim of in and to all the crops of whatsoever species kind or
description now growing or which may hereafter be planted grown
or gathered by me or for me or for my benefit on or off of any and
all lands in Alachua County Florida. Also the following described
property to wit One (1) white Pony mare Bought this day of said
G.K. Broome & for which this note is for the purchase money
To Have and To Hold all and singular the crops and personal
property above bargained and sold unto the said G.K. Broome
his heirs executor administrators and assigns forever. Provided
nevertheless that if the said Reuben Baskins should well and
truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said G.K. Broome the
full amount of said note together with the interest according to
its tenor and effect then this instrument to be void else to
remain in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further
agreed that should it become necessary to enforce this instrum=
=ent by legal proceedings the said Reuben Baskins will pay
therefor all attorney's fees charges and expenses. In Witness Whereof
I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this 12 day of
January AD 1884                                  his
