Mary L. McClellan et al To Eliza A. Clapp
"Mortgage"
State of Florida } Whereas we Mary L. McClellan and Robert McClellan
Alachua County } her husband Dora C. Ellis and T. Benton Ellis her husband
of the State and County aforesaid are Justly indebted to Eliza A. Clapp
of Salem Essex County Mass in the sum of Eight Thousand dollars
which said sum of money is covenanted to be paid by our Joint and
several promissory notes bearing even date herewith and for the said
sum of Eight thousand dollars said note being due and pay six years
after date with the grant and privilege to the Drawers thereof to pay the
said note at the expiration of Five years after date said note bearing
interest from date at the rate of ten per cent (10%) per annum said interest
to be paid semi annually on the 17th day of January and 17th day of July
of each and every year until said note is paid in full. And whereas we
are desirous of fully and better securing the payment of said note and the
sum of money mentioned therein together with the interest to accrue
thereon Therefore know all men by these presents that we Mary L. McClellan
and Robert McClellan Dora C. Ellis and T. Benton Ellis for and in
consideration of the premises and of one dollar to us in hand paid the
receipt of all of which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
sold and mortgaged and by these presents do grant bargain sell and
mortgage unto the said Eliza A. Clapp her heirs and assigns all the
following described piece parcel lot or tract of land lying and being
in the City of Gainesville County of Alachua and State of Florida to wit
The North half of Lot Numbered Three (3) of Block Four of Range
Three (3) according to the Survey of the original Town of Gainesville
a platt of which survey is duly recorded in the Deed Book "H" of the Public
Land Records at Page "383" The above described property being owned
possessed by the said Mary L. McClellan and Dora C. Ellis in their own
rights and whereas Dora C. Ellis is the owner and possessor in fee of the
next following hereafter described piece parcel lot or tract of land
and that she holds the same in her sole and individual right Therefore
know all men by these presents that we Dora C. Ellis and T. Benton
Ellis her husband for and in further consideration of the premises aforesaid
and of the sum of one dollar to us in hand paid the receipt of all of which
is hereby further acknowledged do grant bargain sell & Mortgage and by
these presents have granted bargained sold and mortgaged unto the said
Eliza A. Clapp her heirs and assigns the following described piece parcel
lot or tract of land lying and being in the City of Gainesville Alachua
County State of Florida and know as the West half of the East half of Lot
Numbered Twenty of what is known and recorded as Brushes addition
to the Town of Gainesville a plat of the survey of the said Brushes
Addition being duly recorded in Deed Book "O" at Page "218" Public
land records of Alachua County said lot being Two hundred
