       Hernando D. Wood to Hart Gilbert
                    "Mortgage"
 This Indenture made this 23rd day of January in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and Eighty four Between Hernando D. Wood
and Mittie R. Wood his wife of the first part and Hart Gilbert of
the second part: Whereas the said Hernando G. Wood and Mittie R. Wood
are Justly indebted to Hart Gilbert of the second part in the sum of
Three Hundred Dollars lawful money of the United States of America
For which said amount ($30000} the aforesaid Hernando D. Wood and
Mittie R. Wood have given their promissory note bearing even date with
these presents payable to the said Hart Gilbert on the first day of
November AD 1884 with Interest from date at Eight per cent per annum
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for
the better securing the payment of the said sum of money mentioned
in the aforesaid Promissory note and also for and in consideration
of the sum of one Dollar to them in hand paid by the said party of
the second part at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
sold aliened remised released conveyed and confirmed and by these
presents doth grant bargain sell alien remise release convey and confirm
unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever
All that Lot of land lying in Alachua County Florida and Known and
described as follows to Wit. The South East quarter (SE1/4) of the South
West (SW1/4) of Section Thirty Six (sec 36) Township Seven (T7) South
Range twenty East (S R20 E) containing Forty acres (40a) more or less
