James D. Bell to Ella Hawthorn
"Mortgage"
This Indenture made the first day of October AD 1883 between
James D. Bell and Ella Hawthorn of said Hawthorn party of the
second part witnesseth that whereas the said James D. Bell
party of the first part is Justly indebted to the said Ella
Hawthorn in the sum of Seven hundred dollars for money loaned
and advanced to said Bell as will more fully appear by his
promissory note of even date herewith payable Six months after
demand made in writing with interest annually payable on the first
day of January of each year until the principal the whole amount
due is fully paid with the privilege of paying the whole amount
due at any time after one year from the date hereof. Now therefore
the said parties of the first part for the better securing the
payment of said money and also for and in consideration
of the sum of One Dollar to them in hand paid by the
said party of the second part at and before the sealing and
delivery of these presents do grant bargain sell release convey and
confirm unto the said party of the second part and her heirs and
assigns forever all of Lot "B" in the Town of Hawthorn as Surveyed and
platted by the County surveyor W.L. Sims beginning at the South
East corner of Lot "B" and at the corner of Dawkins and Johnson
Street thence North 3º15" West along the Western Boundary of
Johnson Street one chain and fifty nine links to a Stake
thence South 86º45' West one chain and fifty nine links to Stake
thence South 3º15' East one chain and fifty nine links thence
East along the Northern boundary of Dawkins Street one chain
and fifty nine links to place of beginning at the corner of Johnson
and Dawkins street being the Lot known on the map of the Town
of Hawthorn on file in the clerks office at Gainesville as Lot (8) Eight
Block (27) Twenty seven. Together with all and singular the tenements
hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise
appertaining To Have and to hold the above granted and described
premises unto the said party of the second part her heirs and
assigns forever Provided always and these presents are on this
express condition that if the said James D. Bell his heirs Executors
administrators or assigns the said same of money in this mort
gage and in said note mentioned shall well and truly pay
then these presents and the estate hereby granted shall cease
determine and be absolutely null and void. In Witness whereof the
