November 1st 1884= Now to better secure the payment 
of said note and interest as expressed I do by these
presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said
Charles W. Bauknight Merchant - I bind myself my
heirs and assigns all my right title interest and claim
of in and to all crops of whatever species kind or
description now growing or which may hereafter be
planted grown or gathered by us or through us or
for our benefit on or off of any and all lands in
Alachua County Florida also the following described
property towit: The NE1/4 of the NE1/4 of Sec 32
T10, Range 16 E 40 acres more or less in the
County of Alachua and State of Florida also one
ox and cart - to have and to hold all and singu
lar the crops lands and personal property above
bargained and sold unto the said Charles W.
Bauknight merchant his heirs executors and
administrators and assigns forever. Provided Never-
theless that if the said James Brown and Issabella
Brown should well and truly pay or cause to
be paid unto the said Charles W. Bauknight 
the full amount of said note together with the
interest according to its tenor and effect then this
instrument to be null and void else to remain
in full force and virtue and we do hereby waive
the benefit of the homestead laws of Florida
binding said property as if no such law existed
and it is hereby further agreed that if it should
become necessary to enforce this instrument by
legal proceedings the said James & Isabella Brown
will pay therefor all attorneys fees and expenses-

2nd day of February AD 1884 before me personally
appeared Mrs Isabella Brown wife of James Brown
the grantor in the foregoing instrument who being
first duly questioned and examined by me separate
and apart from her said husband says and ac-
knowledges before me that she did sign the said
Mortgage for the purpose of releasing and relinquish-
ing and renouncing all her right of dower and
