The State of Indiana }  I the undersigned Clerk of the Vigo Circuit
Vigo County          }  Court do certify that Frank B. Smallwood
whose signature appears to the attached Certificate of Jurat was on 
said 12 day of August 1893 an acting Notary Public in and for said
County duly elected, commissioned and qualified, and that full
faith and credit are due all his official acts as such and that
I believe said signature is genuine, Attest my hand and the
seal of said Court at the Court House of said County in the City
of Terre Haute this 2nd day of October 1893

Homestead Certificate No 7918 } The United States of America, 
Application 12376             } To all to whom these presents Shall 
come Greeting. Whereas There has been deposited in the General 
Land Office of the United States a Certificate of the Register of the 
Land office at Gainesville Florida whereby it appears that pur
suant to the Act of Congress approved 20th May 1862 "To secure 
Homesteads to actual Settlers on the Public Domain," and the 
acts supplemental thereto the Claim of Zachary T. Smallwood 
has been established and duly consumated in conformity to law 
for the South East Quarter of Section Thirty Six in Township Eight 
South of Range Sixteen East of Tallahassee Meridian in Florida 
Containing one hundred and Sixty acres and seventy five hund
redths of an acre, according to the official Plat of the survey 
of the said land returned to the General Land Office by the 
Surveyor General. Now Know ye that there is therefore granted 
by the United States unto the said Zachary T. Smallwood the 
tract of Land above described; To have and to hold the said 
tract of Land with the appurtenances thereof unto the said 
Zachary T. Smallwood and to his heirs and assigns forever. 
In testimony whereof I Benjamin Harrison, President of the 
United States of America have Caused these letters to be made 
Patent and the seal of the General Land Office to be hereunto 
affixed, Given under my hand at the City of Washington 
the fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one Thous
and eight hundred and ninety one and of the Independence 
of the United States the One hundred and Sixteenth
