and is also to receipt to my Executors in full for all
claims which he holds against me of my debt to him
as reduced before my death then this legacy is to be
pweportionately abated.
   Item. All the rest residue and remainder of my
estate, Real Personal and Mixed, I give devise and be-
queath to my Executor, and the survivors of them, In
Trust to recieve and pay over to my beloved wife Maria
E. Rhodes, all the **** rents interest and income
thereof during her natural life, should she so long re-
main my widow. And in case of the marriage of my
said wife, she shall take under this my will from my
Executors one-third part of my real and personal
Estate absolutely. And upon the further Trust upon the
death or marriage of my said wife, my said Estate
shall be divided into two equal parts or Shares, and
one of the parts or shares, I give devise and bequeath
unto my son William M. Rhoads his heirs and
assigns forever. And the remaining part or share I give
devise and bequeath unto my Executors or the Survivors of
them. In Trust to pay the rents interest and income
thereof (after paying all taxes and necessary expenses)
unto my said daughter Mary A. Gale, for, and during
all the term of her natural life, and after her decease,
then to her issue as above mentioned.
   Item. Should either of my children die without issue
then I give the whole of my estate to my lawful Heirs
   Item. I constitute and appoint my said wife Maria
E. Rhoads, and my esteemed friend Joseph Mercer to 
be the executors of this my will, giving them and
the survivor of them full power to sell lease or hire
all or any part of my real or Personal Estate as to
them shall seem most expedient, and execute all
deeds papers and writings, to the purchaser lessor or hirer
thereof which may be necessary to vest in him or them
my title thereof, either for a term of years or in fee
simple, without liability or the part of each purchaser
lessor or hirer to see to the application of the
purchase money rent, or hire thereof. The said Executors
also to have the privilege of investing calling in and
exchanging the investment of all monies which shall
come into their hands and to be liable only to my
devisees for bad faith, and not for the honest exercise
of their judgment in selecting such investments
