           Estate of Julia A. Van Ness
The People of the State of New York
   By the Grace of God free and Independent
To all to whom these presence shall come: Greeting
Know Ye, that we having examined the words and files
in the office of the Surrogate of the County of New York
do find there remaining a certain record of the Will
last Will and testament of Julia A. Van Ness
deceased together with the probate thereof and the
letters granted thereon, said Will having been admit-
ted to probate as a will of real and personal
property on the twentieth day of March in
the year eight one thousand Eight hundred and
Ninety-one in the words and figures following
to wit
I Julia A. VanNess of the city of Baltimore in
the State of Maryland but at present sojourning
at Water Mill, Suffolk County in the State of New
York: do make and publish this my Last Will
and Testament in manner and form follow-
ing that is to say: After the payment of all
my just debts and funeral expenses, I give de-
vise and bequeath as follows:
First: As my daughters Julia I Van Ness and
Ann Gertrude W. Van Ness, have property of their
own from which they derive an income, but
which income is not sufficient for their support
and maintenance I desire to arrange my
property and estate in such a manner as
that after my death the income of each of my
such daughters shall be so increased by this
income or amounts to be paid to them respectively
under this clause of my will as to increase each 
of them a net increase of one thousand Dollars
($1000) per annum for the period herein directed
and mentioned and set forth, but no longer. I
therefore, in order to accomplish my ob-
ject as above mentioned, hereby authorize and
empower and order and direct my Executor
hereinafter named, as soon after my death as
practicable to select from my property and
estate such bonds or other property as in
thier discretion shall deem but suited for the
purpose: to the value of not more than ten
thousand Dollars ($10,000) which valuation is
