James S. Gibbs                       Will
        
      In the name of God. Amen:

  I James S. Gibbs heretofore of the City of Charleston in
the State of South Carolina, but now of the County of Marion
in the said State, being of sound, mind clear and disposing
mind, memory and understanding, do hereby make
publish and declare this as my Last Will and Testa-
ment, in manner and form following, to wit
Section A.  All wills and Codocils by me at any
time heretofore made are hereby revoked and declared
null and void
Section 2   All debts that I may or at the time of
my death and all my funeral expenses are to be paid
out of such Cash monies as may at my death stand
to my credit in any Bank in the City of Charleston
or in the Bank of New York in the City of New York
Section 3:  I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary
E. Gibbs, absolutely: Life Policy, No, 60.208 in the New York Life
Insurance Company of New York for five thousand dollars
and Life Policy No __ for the same amount in the Life
Association of America of St. Louis.
Section 4: I give and devise to my said wife the family
homestead at the south east corner of Meeting and George
Streets in the said City of Charleston, together with the fur-
niture, china, silverware, plate, linen, library, carriage and horses
pictures, family portraits and generally all other fixtures and
appurtenances in and upon the said premises at the time of
my death, to have and to hold all and singular, the same
for and during the term of her natural life: and after her
death, I give and devise all and singular the same as
hereinafter provided as in section thirteen (13)
Section 5:  I give and bequeath to my sons James S.
Gibbs and George E. Gibbs and my son in law John
Haile the following securities amounting on their face to
sixty thousand dollars (viz) Twenty thousand dollars in
first Mortgage bonds of the North Eastern Rail Road,
Company, eleven thousand dollars in first Mortgage Bonds
of the south Carolina Rail Road or Railway Company,
eleven thousand dollars in first Mortgage bonds of the Chicago
St. Louis and New Orleans Rail Road Company and eighteen
thousand dollars in first Mortgage bonds of the Missippi
and Tennessee Rail Road Company - The said North -
