use and application to the purposes aforesaid as shall
be sufficient and suitable
 Eighth:  One equal third part of all residue
shall go to and be divided equally among the issue of
my niece Mrs Josephine Emanuel, per stirpes, Provided
that if she be living when the contingency on which
this section may take effect shall occur then, and in
that case, the entire income thereof shall be paid her
during her natural life, freed from the debts or any
control of any husband, and no division among her
issue shall be had until her death. The other two
thirds of said residue shall go to and be equally di-
vided among the children and grandchildren of
my brother Allen S. Gibbs - per stirpes
  Section 30: I hereby order and direct that in
case of any question of this Will shall be construed
according to the law of South Carolina in the
Construction of Wills at the date of making of this
Will
    In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my
hand and seal at Charleston S.C. this thirty-
first day of May, in the year of our Lord, One
Thousand eight hundred and eighty four, having
first set my initial opposite to all interlineations

  Signed, sealed, published and declared by the
above name testator, James S. Gibbs as and for
his Last Will and Testament in our presence, and
in his presence and in the presence of each other
have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses

I, James S. Gibbs, being of sound and disposing
mind, memory and understanding, hereby make
and declare the following to be a Codocil to my
Last Will and Testment bearing date the thirty-
first day of May Eighteen hundred and eighty
four
1:  I confirm my said Will in all respects,
