I give and bequeath to my niece Amelia Josephine Emanuel
the sum of one thousand dollars in addition to any other pre-
vious devise, or legacy, or gift made to her, and I desire
that the same be paid to her as soon as possible after my

Signed, sealed, published and declared by said James
S. Gibbes as and for a Codocil to his Last Will and Testa-
ment and to be taken as a part thereof in the presence of
us, who in the presence of each other, at his request, signed
our names as witnesses thereto

                       I, James S. Gibbes, of the City and
State aforesaid, being of sound mind on this seventh day
of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and eighty seven, do make this my Codocil, hereby con-
firming my Last Will and Testament, made and executed
on the thirtieth day of May, in the year of our Lord
eighteen hundred and eighty four and my first
Codocil made and executed on the twelvth day of
May in the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and
eighty five, and my second Codocil executed on the
eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord
eighteen hundred and eighty five,
 Whereas, in the second of my Codocils, I gave and be-
queathed unto my daughter-in-law Kate Gibbes certain
securities, being obligations of the City of Charleston Water
Works Company, more fully specified in my said
Codocil, and Whereas, as a member of the Syndicate of
the said City of Charleston Water Works Company, I, or
my executor may be called upon for the payment of
certain sums of money necessary for certain operations
or contemplated operations of said Syndicate and Whereas
certain benefits may or shall accrue by reason of said
payments, now I, for the purpose of avoiding any mis-
understanding or misconstruction of the nature and extent
of my said bequest to my said daughter-in-law, by virtue
of the the said provisions of my said second Codocil do
hereby declare that all said benefits or profits which may
