Greenfield my great grand children all called after me and
the said sum of One thousand Dollars to Mrs Rebekah Napier
Stedman my granddaughter, wife of William S. Steadman,
called after my beloved wife Rebekah Napier and the
said additional sum of One Thousand dollars to Mrs Sarah
Ann Peck Called after my deeply lamented and beloved
child Ann Theus Napier now deceased. I further give and
bequeath to the children of my dear deceased Brother Andrew
Napier who lived on Long Island near Jamaica State of
New York named as follows Thomas A. Napier, James Napier,
John Napier Andrew Napier, Margaret Napier and Catherine
Napier now Mrs Schumaker, the sum of Two thousand
Dollars each should my said Estate fall short of paying what
I have given and bequeathed as set forth above distribution
Shall be equally made from each and all the bequeath to
whom said bequeathants are made in equal proportions
according to the sums bequeathed. I will order and direct
that all and every of the legacies and devises given and
falling to any female and females respectively under or by
virtue of this will shall be and remain to and for the sole
and separate use and benefit and behoof of each female
and females respectively and without being in any manner
subject to debts, contracts; control or disposition of any
husbands or husband that they the said females or any
of them separately may marry my earnest wish being to
make some provision for these females respectively and to
place that provision so far as human foresight and law
will permit, in permanent safety for the sole and separate
use of these females respectively. I further will and direct
that after paying said bequeathments should there be
any surplus of my property undisposed of the said remainder
shall be equally divided between the Charleston Bible Society,
Branch of the American Bible Society The Charleston
Tract Society, Branch of the American Tract society and the
Presbyterian Missionary Society of the State of South Carolina
or for the support of Missioners appointed by said Churches
for the state of South Carolina which three I declare to
be my residuary legatees. I hereby appoint my beloved
wife Rebekah Napier of the District of Charleston South
Carolina as my Executrix and M. King L.L.D. and
Hugh Rose Banks Esq., both of this City of Charleston South
Carolina and Jasper***** Esq. of the City and State of
New York true and lawful Executors and Executrix of this
