and her assigns during her life an annuity of One thousand pounds as
in my said will mentioned and upon the death or future marriage of my
said wife and such default or failure of my children as aforesaid
whichever shall last happen but subject to the said annuity to mu
said Mother if then payable and to the payment of a certain legacy
therein also mentioned to divide the ultimate residue of the said
residuary moneys so arising as aforesaid and the interest dividends
and income thereof into two equal parts and to stand possessed of
one of such parts in trust for my cousin Joseph Gamaliel Lawton for
life and after his deceased for his children as therein mentioned and
also to stand possessed of the other of such parts upon certain
trusts therein more particularly mentioned And whereas I am desirous
of altering my said will in manner and to the extent hereinafter
mentioned Now therefore I do hereby revoke the bequest of the said
annuity to my said Mother and in case of there being such default
or failure of my children as aforesaid I bequeath to my said Mother
in lieu and stead of the said annuity the sum of Twelve thousand
pounds absolutely to be paid to her out of the said residuary moneys
at the expiration of one year from the happening of such default or
failure of my children And I do hereby also revoke the hereinbefore
recited bequest of one moiety of the ultimate residue of the said
residuary moneys to or in favor of the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton
and his children and issue and also the trust by my said will de-
clared and hereinbefore referred to of the other moiety of the same
residuary moneys and in lieu and stead thereof I direct my trustees
and trustee for the time being Upon the death or future marriage of
my said wife and such default or failure or my children as aforesaid
to stand and be possessed of the entirety of the ultimate residue of
the said residuary moneys after payment of all my debts and legacies
as in my said will and this codical provided and which said ultimate
residue is hereinafter referred to as my residuary estate Upon the
trusts following namely as to the sum of Thirty thousand pounds and
the stocks funds shares and securities in or upon which the same may
be invested Upon trust for the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton his execu-
tors administrators and assigns absolutely if living at my death but
