if the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton shall happen to die in my lifetime
leaving issue in existence at my death I declare and direct that his
issue in existence at my death and who being male attain the age of
twenty one years or being female attain that age or marry under that
age shall take by substitution as tenants in common in equal shares
per stirpes if more than one and so that no issue remoter than a child
of the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton shall take except in the event of
                              her
the death in my lifetime of his or their own parent and in the
place of such parent any share or interest in said legacy of
Thirty thousand pounds and the stocks funds shares and securities in
or upon which the same may be invested hereinbefore bequeathed to
or in trust for the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton And as to all the
residue and remainder of my said residuary estate Upon trust in case
my said wife shall die my widow for such person or persons in such
parts shares and proportions and for such intent or intents and gen-
erally in such manner and form as my said wife shall by her last will
and testament or any codical or codicals thereto direct appoint give
or bequeath the same But in case of my said wife shall marry again or
in default of and subject to any partial direction or appointment
gift or bequest if she shall not marry again then upon the same or
the like trusts in favor of the said Joseph Gamaliel Lawton or his
issue as the case may be as hereinbefore declared of the sum of Thirty
thousand pounds hereinbefore bequeathed to him or them and in all
other respects I confirm my said will IN WITNESS whereof I the said
William Frederick Lawton have to this codical written and contained on
this and the preceding sheet of paper set my hand this twenty-seventh
day of July One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two - W.F. LAWTON
Signed by the said testator William Frederick Lawton as and for a
codical to his said last will and testament in the presence of us
who at his request in his sight and presence and in the sight and
presence of each other all being present at the same time together
have hereunto set and subscribed our names as witnesses - FREDK
