Know all men by these presents that we James M. Sparkman
Stephen Sparkman, Silas Weeks and Jacob Godwin for the
esteem and good will we bear to our beloved relative Cary
Sparkman relict of the late James Sparkman deceased, do
hereby promise and agree to pay or cause to be paid on or about
the 1st of Januuary in each and every year, after the
Signing and Sealing of these presents unto the Said Carey
Sparkman during her natural life an annuity of Twenty
dollars each, for the payment of which we hereby bind
our Selves our heirs and assigns, and in case of no payment
She is by these presents vested with full power and authority
either through herself or her attorney to Sue for and recure
from each of us the Said Sum of Twenty dollars out of any
property now owned or that we may become possessed or in
the event of the demise of any or either of us, the Twenty
Dollars aforesaid to became recoverable from the respective
heirs of him then So demised~
     In witness we have hereunto set our hands
and affixed our Seals this 4th day of August in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty
nine
