Saturday December 17th
in open Court in their proper person were arraigned and
upon their arraignment pleaded guilty to the charge alleged
in the indictment against them

Moses Neal and }
Melton Anderson }
And now the prisoners Moses Neal and Melton
Anderson being in open court for sentence were demanded if
they had any thing to say why the sentence of the law should
not be passed upon them say nothing
Whereupon the Court sentenced the prisoners in manner
and form as follows to wit:
The sentence of the law is that you Moses Neal be
imprisoned by confinement in the State Prison for ten (10) years
at hard and
The sentence of the law is that you Melton Anderson be
imprisoned by confinement in the State Prison at hard
labor for ten (10) years
Whereupon Court adjourned until Monday morning next
at Nine O'clock
Monday December 19th 1898.
Court met pursuant to adjournment of Saturday his
Honor W.A. Hocker Judge presiding
And now comes L.W. Fennell Sheriff of Alachua County
and returns the Venire for the jury to serve for the
second week of this term of the Court as having been
executed by summoning the following named persons
W.D. Dickinson W.B. Doke Henry R. Fenell M.H. Ormond
R.L. Stringfellow D.A. Miller Monroe Venable D.W.L. Boston
L.O. Zetrouer and W.A. Vaughn in person S.W. Brock and
J.W. Exley not to be found in the County.
It appearing to the Court upon the return of
the Venire that there are only eight Jurors present and
qualified to serve as petit jurors for this the second
week of this term of the Court the Clerk of this Court
is hereby directed to issue a Venire directed to the
Sheriff of Alachua County commanding him to
summon from the bystanders or from the body of the
County at large four persons qualified to serve as jurors
to complete the panel of the petit jury for this the
