Spring Term AD 1898

                  Monday May 16th 1898
Court met pursuant to adjournment of Saturday last his
Honor W.A. Hocker Judge presiding
                      And comes L.W. Fennell Sheriff of
Alachua County and returns the venire for the petit jury for this
the second week of the Spring Term of this Court as having been
executed by summoning the following named persons, to wit:
C.N. Merry S.P. Thomas B.J. Earle, Geo B. Evans James T. Collins
T.M. Cauthen J.P. Jones, W.D. Cauthen, James T. Neal and J.F.
Townsend in person, T.H. Willard and J.F. Davis not to be
found in the County.
          Whereupon for good and sufficient cause shown James T.
Neal and S.P. Thomas were excused from further attendance
upon the Court.
           Whereupon the Court made the following order
It appearing to the Judge of this court that there are only eight
Petit jurors for the petit jury for this week of the term, after excuses
were made and accepted and there being many cases ready for trial.
It is ordered that the Clerk of this Court issue a venire to the
sheriff commanding him to summon from the body of the County
at large, or from the bystanders Four qualified persons to complete
the regular panel, to serve as Petit jurors for the second week of this
term of Court returnable forthwith.

Thereupon the Clerk of this Court issued the following venire
The State of Florida:
                To L.W. Fennell Sheriff of Alachua County
Greeting: You are hereby commanded to summon from the 
body of the County at large or from the bystanders four persons
qualified to serve as jurors each for himself to be and personally
appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court at the Court house
in the City of Gainesville instanter to complete the panel of the
Petit jury for this the 2nd week of the Spring Term of our
Circuit court AD 1898
          Witness the Hon W.A. Hocker Judge and the seal of
our Circuit Court this the 16th day of May A.D. 1898

and returns the venire for the four Jurors to complete the panel
as having been executed by summoning the following named
