denied, to which ruling and order of the Court the defendant by his
Attorneys then & there excepted. It is further ordered by the Court
that the defendant be allowed sixty days in which to prepare
and settle bill of exceptions.
Whereupon the Court adjourned until tomorrow morning at
Nine O'clock
Wednesday May 18th 1898
The Court met pursuant to adjournment of yesterday his Honor
W.A. Hocker Judge presiding.
And now comes L.W. Fennell sheriff of Alachua County
and returns the Special venire issued herein on yesterday for jurors from
which to complete the panel of the jury in the cases of the State of
Florida vs Gus Reid and the state of Florida vs Joseph Martin
as having been executed by summoning the following named persons
to wit: J.W. Riggs D.A. Robertson L.W. Jackson, G.T. Kennard
J.R. Eddins J.G. Avera R.J. Lane E.C. Wimberly C.T. Smith
J.F. Bartleson, J.B. Warren Geo B. Cellon Maxey Bennett, Geo
Gleason, J.A. Shannon S.J. Thomas, J.W. McMullen W.R. McKinstry
M.S. Cheves, C.E. Haile Jr, W.L. Hill, C.M. Smith, S.M. Mixson
W.B. Ellis & W.B. Sadler in person.
And now the venire for the said special jurors being called all
were found to be present and qualified except E.C. Wimberly who
failed to answer.
Whereupon the Grand Jury came into open Court
and reported true bills in two cases and no bill in one case
as follows, to wit:
