This Indenture made and entered into this fifth day of
Febuary one thousand eight hundred and fifty three
by Jesse Talbot Bennard, Mary E., his wife of the County
of Alachua State of Florida of the first part, Thomas
A. Bradford Jr and William H. Bradford of the said
County and State of the second part and Samuel M.
Wilson of the town of Portsmouth and State of Virginia
of the third part; Witnesseth that whereas the said
Jesse T. Bennard is justly indebted unto the said Sam-
uel M. Wilson in the sum of three thousand dollars
as will appear by his note under seal with Thos A.
Bradford and John Talbot as Securities bearing date
the 30th day of September 1852, with interest from date
thereof payable on or before the first day of May 1853
the faithful payment of which sum of money he the
said Jesse T. Bennrd is desirous to secure to the said
Samuel M. Wilson. Now therefore this indenture further
witnesseth that the said Jesse T. Bennard and Mary
E. his wife, as well for and in consideration of the prom-
ises, as well as for the sum of five dollars to them in
hand paid by the said Thomas A. Bradford Jr and
William H. Bradford the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged they the said Jesse T. Bennard and
Mary E. his wife have and by these presents do grant
bargin sell and deliver unto the said Thomas A.
Bradford and William Bradford their heirs and
assigns all that tract of land situated one mile and a
half from the Town of Newnansville, County of Alachua
and State of Florida and designated by the United
States Surveys as the South East Quarter of Section
one, and the South East qr. of the North west of Sec one
and the North half of Lot No. three(3) of Sec one
and the North East quarter of Section Twelve in Township
Eight South of Range Eighteen East, containing three
hundred and sixteen 72/100 acres as per return made
by U.S. Surveys to the Land Office at Newnansville
Fla, being the land purchased with by Jesse T. Bernard
of Arthur Floyd with a portion with a portion obtained
by Bennard from other sources. Also the following negro
slaves to wit, man Sampson about 26 years of age,
man Charles about 26 years of age and woman Tenes
about 22 years old, to have and to hold the above
described land and premises and all and singular the
appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining
together with the aforesaid slaves and any future increase
of the said woman slave unto them the said Thomas A.
Bradford and William H. Bradford their heirs and assigns
upon trust nevertheless that the said Jesse T. Bennard
shall be permitted quietly to occupy said land and en-
joy the labor of said slaves until such time as the said
