This Indenture made this third day of May in the year 1852 Between
Charles L. Wilson Sheriff & Ex officio Assessor and Tax Collector of Taxes
in and for the County of Alachua and State of Florida party of the first
part and Geo R. Fairbanks of the County of St Johns party of the second
part Witnesseth that said the party of the first part a such
Assessor of Lands and in pursuance of the Statue in such mad and
provided having duly sworned assigned for the taxes due to the State of
Florida and the County of Alachua in the year 1851 as the property
of James Suydam a man resident of said State the following described
lands to wit Section Number fifteen of Township Number Ten of Range
Number Twenty one being part and parcel of the Aradondo grant and
the time for the payment of taxes by law having assigned and the taxes assessed
upon the Lands of said Suydam remaining unpaid and unsatisfied the said
Sheriff Tax Collector and Assesor and duly levied upon said lands in the man
ner provided by law to satisfy the same and caused the same to be
advertised in the manner and that the place described by law and gave
due norice that the said Lands would be sold so much thereof as might be
necessary to Satisfy the said taxes at the Court house at Newnansville in
said County on the first Monday of May 1852 and said period having
elasped and the said taxes for sale on the 3rd day of May in the year Eighteen hundred
and fifty two at public auction in front of the Court House aforesaid and
proceeded to offer the NW(1/4) quarter of the South west quarter of said Sec-
tion Fifteen Township No Ten Range No 21 containing fory acres and Geo R. Fair-
banks having bid twelve and a half cent per acre for the same and that
being the last and highest bid for the same the same was struck off to
him. And I the said Sheriff thereupon proceeded to offer the North East
quarter of the North West quarter containing forty acres and Geo R. Fairbanks
having bid Ten cents per acre and that being the last and highest bid for
the same the same was struck off to him. and I thereupon proceeded
to offer the SE quarter of the NW quarter of the same section contain-
ing 41 acres Geo R. Fairbanks having bid sixty cents per acre and that being
the highest and last bid for the same it was struck off to him and I thereupon
proceeded the NW quarter of the North East quarter of the same Section , con-
taining forty acres and Geo R. Fairbanks having bid five cents per acre
and that being the last and highest bid for the same the said was struck
off to him and I lastly proceeded to offer the SW quarter of the North East
quarter of the same section containing forty acres and Geo R. Fairbanks
having bid twenty cents per acre for the same and that being the
last and highest bid for the same the same was struck off to him
making the quantity of 240 acres in all at the aggregete Sum of thirty nine
dollars being the sum necessary to satisfy the State and County taxes
due from the said Suydam with the expenses of levy advertisement & sale
Now therefore in pursuance of the statue in such case made and provided
I the said Charles L. Wilson Sheriff and officio Assessor and Collector of taxes
for said County of Alachua State of Florida party of the first part
in consideration of the sum of thirty Nine dollars to me in hand paid by the
said Geo R. Fairbanks party of the of the second part the receipt
whereof is thereby acknowledged do thereby grant sell and convey the parcels of land
herein before particulartiy described and containing the NW quarter and
the West half of the North East quarter of Section 15 Township Ten
Range Twenty one of the Aradondo grant and containing two hundred |
