State of Florida }
Alauchua County  } This Indenture made and Entered into this
                 } Eighteenth Day of June in the year of our Lord
One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty three (53) between James
F. Secrest of the County and State aforesaid of the first part
and the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of the
Second part To wit, Daniel Conyers, James Tompkins, James McNabb
John H. Massey, David Mizell McQueen McCarlton John W. Tompkins
Witnesseth that the said James F. Secrest for and in Consideration
of the Sum of Thirty one & 100/50 Dollars in Specie to him in hand
paid the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged both granted
bargained, Sold, released and conveyed unto the said Trustees To wit
Daniel Conyers, James Tompkins, James McNabb John H. Massey
David Mizell McQueen McCarlton and John W. Tompkins and
their Successors in office The following Lot of parcel of Land
lying North East quarter of Section Two of Township Eleven Range
Twenty two East commencing at the South west Corner of said quar=
ter Section and running North to a Lightwood post then East to
the Spring Branch Corner on a white Bay thence south to Henry
Swinneys line, thence West to corner and being on the west side
of Daniels Branch Containing Twelve & a half more or Less to
have and to hold the Said Described Lot of parcel of Land all
the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Trustees of said
Church and their Successors in office forever To have and to hold
in Trust for the uses and purposes herein after named that they Shall
erect or cause to be erected therein a house or place of worship for
the use of the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South
According to the rules and Decipline which from time to time may
be agreed upon and adopted by the Ministers and preachers of the
Said Church at their general Conferances in further Trust and con=
fidence that they shall at all times forever hereafter allow all
Authorized preachers of said Church to preach and attend to
Ordinances of the Church therein, The said James F. Secrest for
himself his heirs, Executors and administrators will forever warrant
and Defend the right and title thereunto against all other claims
whatsoever In Testimony whereof the said James F. Secrest has
hereunto Set his hand and seal the Day and year above written

                      } Personally appeared before me a Justice of the
peace appeared James M. Keinsly who after being Duly sworn Deposeth
and sayeth that he was present and saw James F. Secrest of Alauchua
County Signed Sealed and delivered unto the trustees of the with named
Deed for the purposes therein mentioned and he the said Kingsly
Signed the Same as a witness and likewise saw J.N.J. McNabb
Sign the Same as a witness also, Sworn to and Subscribed before
me this the third day of October 1853
