Be it known, That on the Twenty Fourth day of December one
thousand eight hundred and thirty nine and in the Sixty fourth Year
of the Independance of the United States of America, Before me Alexan=
=der W. Black Esquire Justice of the Quorum in and for the Said State
and Notary Public, by Letters p****t Patent, under the Great Seal of the
State, duly Commissioned and Sworn, Came Thomas P. Smith the above
named Witness and made oath that he Saw Joseph Lawton Sign the
above Power of Attorney, And acknowledged the foregoing Power of Attorney
to be his act and Deed
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto Set my hand and
affixed my Seal, Notarial, at Charleston in the State
aforesaid, the day and year the last mentioned.

To all ^ whom these presents Shall Come: Know ye that
Thomas S. Jones whose Signature appears to the Certificate on
the annexed office Copy of a Power Attorney from Joseph Lawton
to William Nayler is the duly Authorised acting Deputy Secretary
of State, at Charleston in the State aforesaid, and has in his custody
the records of said Office, Therefore, all due faith, credit, and
Authority, in and ought to be has and given to his proceedings and
Certificate as Such. In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto Set my
hand, and Caused to be affixed the Seal of the State, in the city of
Charleston, State aforesaid, the twelfth day of January in the
Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four, and
in the Seventy eighth year of the Independance of the United States
of Amercia.
