Alachua County ) This Indenture made on the first day
of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty
three, between Washington M. Gieger of the State and County aforesaid
of the first part, and Joel B. Smith of the Village of Micanopy and
State aforesaid, of the second part, Witnesseth, that for and in consid-
eration of the sum of thirty dollars to him in hand paid at
and before the Sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged, the said party of the first part, hath bargained, sold,
given, granted, and conveyed, and by these presents doth so bargain, sell,
give, grant and convey unto the said party of the Second part, all that
certain hereditainment, plantation, or tract of land, situate in the County
and State aforesaid, Known and described as follows, that is to say, begining
at the South West corner of J.B. Smiths land as set off to him by George
Watson pursuant to a decree of the Circuit Court in 1850, and running
West fourteen chains and seven links to a lightwood post marked
SG for Smiths South West Corner pine marker S. North 72 1/2" East fifty
eight links, pine marker C South 59 1/4° West Forty eight links, from thence
North twenty eight chains and forty six links to a lightwood post
Marker SG at Smiths North West corner, pine marker S South 36° East
five links, pine marked C North 72 1/4 West fifteen links, thence East four-
teen chains and four links to post marked CS being the North West
corner of the land owned by J.B. Smith as aforesaid, and the south
West corner of the land of James Child Set off under the decree
of the Circuit Court as aforesaid, and containing forty acres of land more
or less, being part of the Section No twenty seven, of Township No
eleven, of Range No twenty, of the Arredondo Grant to have
and to hold the aforegranted premises, with all and Singular the
appurtenances, and all the Estate, title and interest, of the said
party of the first part therein, or to the same in any wise appur=
taining or belonging, unto the said party of the second part, his
heirs and assigns in fee simple forever, and the said party of the
first part doth hereby covenant and agree with the said party of
the Second part, that at the time of the delivery of these presents, the
said party of the first part is the lawful owner of the premises above
granted, that he is Seized thereof in fee simple absolute, and that he
will, and his heirs Executors, and Administrators, shall warrant and
defend the above granted premises in the quiet and peacable possession
of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns for ever,
