Alachua County  } This Indenture made the twenty fourth day of
March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty
four, Between Thomas E. Haile of the County and State aforesaid, and
Edward Hale of South Carolina, Guardian of Janet Matheson and Catherine
Matheson Minors. Witnesseth, whereas the said Thomas E. Haile in
and by a certain obligation or writing obligatory under his name and seal having
even date herewith, Stands bound unto the said Edward Hale Guardian
as aforesaid, in the sum of Eight thousand Six hundred and seventy two
dollars, thirty cents (8672 30/100) conditioned for the payment of four
thousand three hundred and thirty six dollars and fifteen cents, on the
first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fifty five, with interest upon the said last sum of money
at the rate of seven per cent per annum, as in and by the said recited
obligation and condition thereof relation being thereunto had more
fully and at large appears. Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that
the said Thomas E. Haile, as well for and in consideration of the afore=
=said debt or sum of four thousand three hundred and thirty six
dollars and fifteen cents, and for the better securing the payment
thereof, with its interest unto the said Edward Haile Guardian
as aforesaid, his Executors, Administrators and assigns, in discharge
of the said recited obligation, as of the further sum of one dollar to him
in hand paid by the said edward Haile Guardian as aforesaid, at and
before the sealing and delivery of these presents, thereof the receipt where=
=of is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained, sold, released, conveyed and confirmed,
and by these presents doth bargain, sell, release, convey and confirm unto
the said Edward Haile Guardian as aforesaid, his heirs, Executors, Admin=
=istrators and assigns, all and every the Negro Slaves herein after named,
to wit Ephraim Hetty, Haily, Fortune, Rainy, Ephraim Jr, Ned,
Aggy, Allen, Nanny, Gus, Amos, Tom, Morris, Old Buck, Sarah
Kitty, Emma, Abraham, and Hannah, together with the future issue
of said female Slaves. To have and to hold the said Negro Slaves
and every of them, and the future issue of the said female Slaves,
unto him the said Edward Haile Guardian as aforesaid, his
Executors, Administrators and assigns, to his and their only proper
use benefit and behalf forever, provided always nevertheless,
that if the said Thomas E. Haile, his heirs, Executors, Adminis=
=trators or assigns, Shall and do well and truly pay or cause 
or procure to be paid to the said Edward Haile, Guardian
as aforesaid, his Executors, Administrators or assigns, the
aforesaid debt, or sum of four thousand three hundred and
thirty six dollars and fifteen cents, on the day and time herein
before mentioned, and appointed for payment thereof, with the
interest there upon, at the rate aforesaid according to the con=
=dition of the said recited obligation without any fraud or further
duly then and from thenceforth as well this present indenture
and the interest and Estate hereby conveyed, as the said recited
obligation shall cease, determine, and become absolutely null and
void to all intents and purposes any thing herein before
contained to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding
