Kershaw District       }  I M. Naudin Clerk of the Court of
Common Pleas and General Sessions for the District in the State 
aforesaid, do hereby certify that the honorable T.J. Withers whose signature
in his own hand writing is Subscribed to the preceding certificate
was at the date thereof one of the law Judges of the said State and
in turn presiding Judge of the Court aforesaid, for the District aforesaid,
duly commissioned and qualified
             In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and
             affixed my seal of office, to wit, the seal of said Court
(Seal)       this first day of April in the year of our Lord one
             thousand and eight hundred and fifty four, and in the
             78th year of the Independence of the United States

               Whereas James Chesnut and Thomas Whitaker,
by Testamentary Appointment, and Qualification according to law,
became executors of the last will and Testament of John Chesnut Deceased,
which bears date of 3rd day of May A.D. 1839, and whereas the Said
John Chesnut, in the fifth clause of the said last will and Testament,
enjoins a certain duty, and thereby confers a power upon his said Executors,
in the following words, to wit, I direct before my Daughters Shall be put in
possession of the property to which they shall become entitled under the provisions
of this will, my Executrix and Exec Executrix and Executors Shall secure
it to them, so that it shall not in any way be liable to the
disposal for the debts of their Husbands, and if any of my Daughters 
Shall die without Issue, the property of the Daughter or Daughters so
dying, to which she or they shall become entitled under this will shall
revert to my other children, in equal proportions. And Whereas
the said executors in the manner prescribed by the Testator, have
proceeded to divide that portion of his personal Estate which is
Subject to division, and are according to the directions of the said last
Will and testament, prepared the assigns one of the Shares of the
said Estate so divided for Esther Serena Haile, Eldest Daughter of Testator,
and now wife of Thomas E. Haile of the District and State
aforesaid. To the End therefore, that the property hereinafter specified
and comprised in the said Share, Shall be secured to the said Serena
Esther Serena, before it goes into her possession, and that the
provisions of the will of the testator in relation to the same may
in all respects be fully carried into effect.
        Know all men by these presents, that we, James Chesnut, and
Thomas Whitaker, executors as aforesaid of the said last Will and
Testament pursuing the directions of our Testator, and by virtue of
power and authority in us vested by the said Will and Testament,
in consideration of ten dollars to us in hand paid, at and before
