to the Sheriff by virtue of fifa of aforesaid levied the same on a certain
piece or parcel of land as the estate of Samuel W. Burnett and he failing
for the payment of said debt interest & cost the said Sheriff in pursu-
ance of said writ and according to the law of said State having legally
advertised and made known the same did on the 4th day of February A.D.
1856 at Newnansville in the County aforesaid expose for sale by public
auction the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with the appurtinances
and all the estate right title claim and demand whatsoever of the said
S.W. Burnett into and over the same and whereas the said Mary
S. Pyles did then bid the sum of thirty one dollars and know person
bidding more the said tract or parcel of land and appurtinances was
in due manner openly struck off and sold to the said Mary S. Pyles
for the said sum of thirty one dollars therefore to confirm the said purchase
the said Mary S. Pyles as aforesaid made this indenture, witnesseth,
that the said George B. Ellis Sheriff of the County aforesaid for and
in the consideration of the sum of thirty one dollars to him in hand
paid by the said Mary S. Pyles the receipt whereof is hereby acknow
-ledged hath given, granted, bargained, sold, released, conveyed and
confirmed, and by these presents does give, grant, bargain, sell release,
convey and confirm unto the said Mary S. Pyles her heirs and assigns
forever all that parcel of land situated in the town of Newnansville
lots one two three seven & eight B. six Range one with the apperte
wise
nances to the same belonging or in any way appertaining with all
the estate right title interest property claimed and demanded of the
said Samuel W. Burnett his interest in and to the above described
property into and over the same and every part and parcel thereof
to have and to hold all and singular the above granted and bargained
premises and appurtenances to the said Mary S. Pyles her heirs and
assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Mary
S. Pyles her heirs and assigns forever in full and ample a manner
as I the said Geo B. Ellis by virtue of the authority aforesaid - -
might or ought to convey the same in testimony whereof I the said
Geo B. Ellis Sheriff as aforesaid have hereunto set my hand
and seal the day and year first above written
