County of Alachua    Be it remembered that on this the 2nd day of October
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six before
me S.W. Burnett a Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally
appeared Fannie Davis the wife of the above named James Davis
and having been privately and separately examined by me, she say that she
does freely, voluntarily and without any compulsion on the part of her
said husband, without any dread or fear of any person whatsoever
renounce, release, and forever relinquish unto the above named Thomas
C. Standly, his heirs and assigns, all her interest and estate and all
her dower and right of dower to all and singular the premise above de-
scribed.
     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day 
of October A.D. 1856

County of Alachua        Personally appeared before me a Justice of the
                         Peace in and for said County Fanny Davis who
being duly examined by me separately and apart from her husband
acknowledged that She had executed the foregoing relinquishment of
Dower freely and voluntarily upon her part and without any compulsion
restraint or fear from her said husband.
     Given under my hand and seal this 2nd day of October AD 1856

State of Florida     This Indenture made the first day of October in the
County of Alachua    year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and
fifty six between John G. Rawls of the County and State aforesaid of
the first part and James Davis of the same county and State of the
second part, Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, for and
in consideration of the sum of Four hundred and thirteen Dollars and
seventy five cents ($413.75) lawful money of the united States to him and
paid before the delivery hereof, hath bargained, and sold and by these
presents doth grant and convey to the said party of the second part his
heirs and assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of land Known
and described by U.S. surveys in the Land Office at Newnansville
State foresaid as the E 1/2 of SW 1/4 & W 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec 23.T.8. of 
R.18.E containing one hundred and sixty acres more or less, together with all
and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances and
all the estate, title and interest of the said party of the first part
