County of Alachua }  This Indenture made & Entered into
Twentieth day of October AD 1866 between Elijah Tucker of
the State & County aforesaid party of the first part, and
Ignatious Griffin of the Same State & County party of the Second
part. Witnesseth That the Said Elijah Tucker in Consider
=ation of the agreement hereinafter Contained on the part
of the Ignatious Griffin has covenanted, bargained
and agreed, and by these presents, does Covenant, bargain
and agree, to and with the Said Ignatious Griffin
to lend out, and apprentice to him the Said Ignatious
Griffin, two children of his own the Said Elijah Tucker
whose age and name are hereby given for the period
allowed by law Viz, untill they become twenty one years
of age. Thomas E. Tucker aged 15 years 10 months
John E. Tucker 13 years 10 months, And the said
Ignatious Griffin, on his part, and in Consideration of
the agreement above contained, on the part of the
Said Elijah Tucker, Covenant, bargain, and agrees
to receive the two above named children as apprenti
-ces, And he the Said Ignatious Griffin promises to
teach the two aforesaid boys, the general business of
farming and to have Each of them instructed in the
Element of reading, writing and arithmetic, And at the
expiration of their apprenticeship to give each of them
a new Suit of Clothes, blanket and Shoes, And the
Said Ignatious Griffin further promises to give to Each
of the said boys at the close of their terms of Service,
a horse Saddle & bridle, valued at One hundred
dollars, for Each horse. In Witness whereof the parties
to these presents have hereto Set their hands, and
Seals the day and year above written)
