County of Alachua } This Indenture made this 4th day of
March AD 1867 between John O. Cosby Sheriff of Alachua County
and State aforesaid of the first part, and James Beattie
of the same place of the Second part Witnesseth that whereas
by virtue of a writ of Fi Fa issued out of the Circuit Court of
Alachua County and State aforesaid and to the said Sheriff
delivered, he was commanded that of the goods and chattles
lands & tenements of Henry Rucker he cause to be made the sum
of Four hundred and nine dollars $409) with interest there
on and cost of suit with which W. Wash Scott lately recovered
in the Circuit Court of Alachua County and State aforesaid against
said Rucker, and whereas the said Sheriff by virtue of said
writ, did on the 30th day of January AD 1867 by virtue of said
writ and pursuant to the Statutes in such case made and
provided duly advertise the said property for sale on the 4th day
of March AD 1867 being the day and date of these presents, and
did on this day sell the same at public auction according to
law to the said James Beattie for the sum of Forty five dollars
($45.00) he being the highest bidder for the same. Now there
fore, Know ye that I the said John O. Cosby Sheriff as afore
said by virtue of said writ, and the Statutes in such case made
and provided in consideration of the sum of Forty five dollars to me
in hand paid by the party of the Second part, have granted barg
=ained and sold, and by these presents do grant bargain & sell
unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever
the following property to wit S1/2 of SW1/4 of Sec 20 T 9 S of Range
14 East & E1/2 of SE1/4 of Sec 19 T 9 S of Range 19 East & Lot No 2 of
Sec 19 T 9 S of Range 14 East Also N1/2 of NW1/4 of Sec 29 T 9
Range 14 South East containing Three hundred acres more or
less Situate lying and being in the County & State aforesaid Together
with all and singular the right title and interest which the
said Henry Rucker had in said property jointly and severally
and the same to hold and convey as fully as I the said Sheriff
under the said writ might could or ought to sell and convey
the same Given under my hand and seal this the 4th day of
March AD 1867            }
