                 This Indenture made the first day of Aug
=ust in the year one thousand eight hundred and Sixty
Seven between James H. Roper of the Town of Gainesville County
of Alachua and State of Florida party of the first part
and Mrs R.M. Roberds of the same place party of the second
part = Witnesseth = That the said party of the first
part for and in consideration of the sum of Ten thousand
dollars, lawful money of the United States, the payment of which
is secured to him by four certain promissory notes of Twenty five
hundred dollars each, before the delivery hereof, hath
bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant
and convey to the said party of the second part, her heirs and 
assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of land lying and 
being in the County of Alachua and State of Florida, Known and
described as follows, to wit, In Section Five (5) Township Ten (10) 
South Range twenty (20) East lying South of the Town of Gainesville
as indicated in the original plat Commencing thirty feet south
of the South East corner of lot Block four (4) Range Seven (7)
as laid down in the plat of the town of Gainesville and running
West Six chains and fourteen links to a Stake; thence South
four chains and twenty links to a stake, thence west one chain
and eighty links to a Stake on the Street leading South from the
Western portion of the Court House Square to the Rail Road,
thence South eighty chains and ninety five links to a Stake
thence East Seven chains and ninety four links to a stake in the
Street leading north from the Rail Road depot to the Town of
Gainesville thence North thirteen chains and twenty links to the
corner of beginning containing nine (9) acres more or less and
bounded as follows, on the North by the town of Gainesville
on the East lands of Fredenburg, J.H. Roper, S.P. Bevill and
A.H. Leonard on the South by lands of Thomas Little and J.H.
Roper, on the West by lands of J.R. Bevill, C.E. Haile and
J.W. Montgomery, The said lot being surrounded by a
public street Street which intervenes between between the indi
=cated boundaries and itself excepting on the North West
where it immediately joins the lot belonging to J.W. Mont
=gomery = To Have and to hold the above described premises
together with all and singular the tenements hereditaments
