chosen by the said Avera, The said Thomas agree
=ing not to sacrifice said Cotton, but to sell at a fair
market price, The said Thomas to retain out of the proceeds
of Sale Cotton sufficient money to reimburse him fully for all
expenses and advances which he has already made
for and on account of said farming interest on said
plantation, and for all indebtedness for advances made
by the said Thomas for said Avera, allowing Eight
per cent on all monies, and obligations from said Avera
to be paid to said Thomas - The said Avera to have
the said Engine its fixtures and appliances, but the
same to remain subject to the payment of any defect
which might arise from any accident to said Cotton which
would reduce the proceeds of sale to an amount inad
=equate to the full and entire reimbursement of said
Thomas, The said Thomas agrees that the rent of
the plantation is to be paid out of the proceeds of sale of
Cotton after the said Thomas receives the cash advan
=ced as above, as also the cash advanced to J.H. Roper as
per contract with said Roper The said Thomas agrees to
take up by payment to Thos C. Ellis a certain note for about
one hundred & fifty dollars due now from said Avera
to said Ellis and that having done so from the early
proceeds of the Sale of Cotton, The said Thomas is
to retain other proceeds for the reimbursements of himself
for this and one note for One hundred & sixty eight dollars
already taken up, the said Thomas to be relieved from
all further liabilities, on account of said farm, or any
thing connected therewith, And the said Avera binds
himself his heirs and administrators for the due payment
of all advances and expenses above expressed unto the
said Thomas - In testimony whereof both of the

hundred & Sixty seven, between Mary Ann Hagan of the 
County & State aforesaid of the one part and James
A. Brock of the same place of the other part, Witnesseth
that the said Mary Ann Hagan for and in consideration
of the sum of two hundred & fifty Dollars to her in hand
