County of Alachua } This Memorandum
Witnesseth that I James H. Roper have bargained
& Sold, and do by these presents bargain & Sell
to Edward A. Jeffords all that certain lot piece
or parcel of land, Situate lying and being in
the State and County above written and Known on
the original Map of the Town of Gainesville as the
Southern half of lot Block four (4) Range
One (1) measuring One hundred & Ninety Seven feet
East and West and One hundred feet north and
South and bounded on the East West and South
by Public Streets, and on the North by land owned
by the Presbyterian Church, for which the said E.
A. Jeffords have paid me the Sum of thirty dollars
lawful Money and executed his note bearing even
date with these presents for Four hundred and
Seventy Dollars, drawn to the favour of James H. Roper
or bearer and payable on the first day of July AD Eighteen
hundred and Sixty Eight with Eight per Cent interest
from date upon the payment of which note with
interest due, I hereby bind myself my heirs, adminis
=trators and assigns to make to the Said E.A. Jeffords
his heirs, administrators or assigns a good and
Perfect title to the said lot or parcel of land, In
witness whereof, I have hereunto Set my hand and
Seal on this the twenty fourth day of September AD
