Alachua County   } This agreement made this the 9th day
of May AD 1868 Between E. & S.J. Bauknight of the County & State 
aforesaid of the one part, and K.D. Smith of the other part
Witnesseth, That the said E. & S.J. Bauknight as aforesaid 
promise and agree to furnish from their Store in Micanopy 
Such goods as they may have on hand, and which the said 
K.D. Smith party of the Second part may need to enable him 
to make a crop the present year, The said goods or Supplies 
are to be furnished at a reasonable rate or price, That the 
Said K.D. Smith of the Second part in Consideration of the 
Said premises and agreement of the said e. & S.J. Bauknight
do hereby promise and agree and by this agreement
bind himself his heirs Executors and assigns to its faithful 
performance Viz That he will deliver or assign a Sufficient 
quantity of Ginned Cotton as soon as ginned unto the Said 
E. & S.J. Bauknight as aforesaid, their heirs and assigns 
to Satisfy or Secure the payment to them of all Such demands
or claims as may have accrued against them for goods or 
Supplies furnished him during the present year to enable 
him to make a Crop as aforesaid He further promises that 
at the expiration of each three Months or quarterly from the 
the 6th of April last he will pay interest on the amount of 
each quarterly period to the end of the year, untill 
final payment or Settlement For and in Consideration of 
Such Supplies or goods furnished as aforesaid he gives 
a lien upon his whole crop of Cotton made or which Shall 
be made the present year untill the Said E. & S.J. Bauknight 
Claims as aforesaid Shall be Satisfied or paid.

aforesaid Saml L. Smith a Subscribing Witness to the fore
=going Mortgage (or lien) who first being duly Sworn deposeth 
& Said that he did witness the Signing and Sealing of the 
foregoing Mortgage (or Lien) for the purposes therein Set
forth
