Alachua County }
Whereas George Stevinson of the County of Alachua and State
of Florida, is a planter, engaged in the Cultivation and production
of cotton and provisions, and finds himself unable successfully to carry
on the same without aid and assistance; and whereas William B.
Lewis of Alachua County and State of Florida has consented to
make advances to the said George Stevison for the purpose of enabling him
to continue and complete the Culture and production of the crops afore
said and prepare the same for Market.
Now this Indenture, made and entered into this 22nd day of August in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight wit=
nesseth; That the said George Stevison in consideration of the sum
of four hundred dollars, already advanced in corn, merchandize of
various kinds and money by the said W.B. Lewis to the said George Ste=
vison, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and the further consideration
that the said parties of the second part (W.B. Lewis) shall and will make such
further advances in provisions, suplies and assorted merchandize in the ag=
gregate not to exceed six hundred dollars as may be necessary to enable
the party of the first part, (George Stevison), to make and harvest and pre
pare for market the said crops; such further advances not to exceed two
hundred dollars, as also the sum of five dollars to the said George Ste=
vison party of the first part, in hand paid by the said W.B. Lewis,
party of the second part, at or before the sealing and delivering of these
presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledge, has bargained, sold and
Conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the
the said party of the second part and his assigns, all the right, title and
interest of the said party of the first part, his heirs, executors and administrators
in and to the crops of every hink and description now growing and
being cultivated on the lands of the said W.B. Lewis situated in Alach-
ua County. To have and to hold all and singular the crops above bargained
and slod, or intended so to be, unto the said parties of the second part his exec
utors, administrators and assingns forever
And I, the said George Stevenson party of the first part, for myself
my heirs, executors and administrators, all and singular, the said property
above bargained, sold and conveyed unto the said party of the second part,
his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, against me the said party
of the first part, and against all and every person or persons whomsoever,
shall and will warrant and forever defend, upon condition that if I, the said party
of the first part, shall and do well and truly pay unto the said party of the
second part his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, the full amount
the full amount of the advances aforesaid made an to be made
to me by the said parties of the second part with their charges
for commissions and interest on the same or before the first
day of December 1868, and faithfully help, observe and before all
and singular the agreements and covenants herein contained
then these presents to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue
