County of Alachua }
This Indenture made the fifteenth
day of December AD 1868 between George L. Barnes Sheriff of
per E.S. Gunnells Deputy Sheriff of said County of the
first part and Kate A. Weed of Alachua County of
the Second part, whereas by virtue of Sundry Executions issued
out of the Justice Court holden in and for the County of
Alachua & to the Said Sheriff delivered he was Commanded
that of the goods and chattles, lands and tenements of
Edward Remington he Cause to be made the Sum of
Three hundred and fifty Six dollars and fifty nine Cents
with interest thereon, and Cost of Suit, which Joseph
Baldwin, J.A. Williams, Lew Williams, James Bennett
together with the State of Florida lately recovered in the
Justice Court against Edward Remington, And Whereas the
Said Sheriff by virtue of said Execution, did on the first
day of November 1868 levy upon and Seize the property herein
after described and Whereas the said George L. Barnes
Sheriff per E.S. Gunnells dept Sheriff as aforesaid did
by virtue of said Executions and pursuant to the Statutes
in Such case made duly advertise the said property for
Sale on the Seventh day of December AD 1868 being the day
of the date of these presents, and did on this day Sell the
Same at Public auction according to Law to the said
Kate A. Weed for the Sum of Twenty five dollars, being the
highest Sum bid for the Same, Now Therefore, Know
Ye that I the said George L. Barnes Sheriff per E.S. Gunnells
Deputy Sheriff, by virtue of the said Execution, and of the
Statutes in Such case made and provided in Consideration
of the said sum of Twenty five dollars to me paid by the
party of the Second part, have granted, bargained and
Sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and Sell
unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and
assigns forever, all the following property viz One lot of
Land Situate and lying in said County of Alachua
& described as lot number Six in Block number three,
and Range number two according to the original Survey
of the Town of Newnansville in the County and State
aforesaid, Together with all the right, title and interest
which the Said Edward Remington had in the said property
jointly and Severally, And the same to hold as fully as I
the said Sheriff as aforesaid under said Execution
might, Could, or ought to Sell and Convey the Same.
Given under my hand and Seal this the Seventh day of
