Alachua County   } This indenture made this Eleventh day of
                   September in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty five, between Chas Gavin
of the State and County above mentioned party of the
first part and Thomas Downing of the said State and
County of the second part, Witnesseth, That the said party
of the first part in consideration of the sum of one hun-
dred dollars to him duly paid hath sold and by these
presents doth grant and convey to the said party of the
second part his heirs and assigns all that tract or
parcel of land situated in Alachua County known
and described as follows the North West quarter of
the South West quarter of section twenty four in
Township seven North of Range Seventeen East in the
districts of lands subject to sale at Newnansville
Florida containing forty acres and 15/100 of an acre more
or less with the appurtenances and all the Estate
title and interest therein of the party of the first part
 And the said party of the first part doth hereby covenant
and agree to and with the said party of the second 
part his heirs and assigns that the premises thus
conveyed in the quiet and peaceable possession of the
said party of the second part his heirs and assigns
and will forever warrant and defend against any
person whomsoever lawfully claiming the same or
any part thereof.
   In witness whereof the party of the first part
has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and
year first above written

  This indenture made the 29th day of December in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty
five between W. Wash Scott of the County of Alachua
and State of Florida of the first part and of Mary
A. Ellis of the second part, Witnesseth that the said
W. Wash Scott for and in consideration of the sum of
Five hundred Dollars lawful money of the United 
States to him in hand paid by the said Mary
A. Ellis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
hath granted bargained and sold and by these
