Sheriffs Deed
State of Florida }
Alachua County } This Indenture made this
the first day of March A.D. 1869 by George L. Barnes
Sheriff of said County of the first part and
James J. Kennard of Alachua County of the
Second part Whereas by virtue of sundry writs of
fieri facias issued out of the Circuit Court of
Alachua County and to the said Sheriff delivered
he was commanded that of the goods and Chattels
lands and tenements of Samuel J. Kennard he caused
to be made the sum of Two hundred and twenty
eight dollars with the interest thereon and costs of
suit which John O. Kelly lately recovered in the Circuit
Court of Alachua County viz on the ninth day of May
A.D. 1859 as also the sum of Two hundred and twelve 67/100
dollars with interest thereon and costs of suit which G.P.
Thomas lately recovered in the Circuit Court of Alachua
County viz on the twenty sixth day of June A.D. 1867
against said Samuel J. Kennard and whereas the said
Sheriff by virtue of said writs did on the twenty second
day of January 1868 levy upon and seize the property
hereinafter described and whereas the said George L.
Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid did by virtue of said
writs and pursuant to the Statute in such cases made
and provided duly advertise the said property for sale
on Monday the first day of March A.D. 1869 being the
day of the date of these presents and did on this day sell
the same at public auction according to law to the said
James J. Kennard of Alachua County for the sum of
one hundred dollars being the highest bidder for the
same Now therefor Know Ye that I the said George L.
Barnes as said Sheriff by virtue of the said writs in
such cases made and provided in consideration
of the said sum of one hundred dollars to me paid
by the party of the second part have granted sold
and by these presents do grant bargain and sell
unto the said party of the second part his heir and
assigns forever all the following property to wit
Lot No three (3) Block Ten (10) with Storehouse Lots number
Four & Five (4 & 5) Block Eighteen (18) with dwelling house
Store house and other appurtenances thereunto belonging
in the Town of Waldo County and State aforesaid to
gether with all the right title and interest of which
the said Samuel J. Kennard had in the said property
Jointly and severally and the same to hold as fully
as I the said Sheriff as aforesaid under said writs might
could or ought to sell and convey the same
